Tulum yacht rentals is actually Puerto Aventuras yacht rentals as Tulum has no marinas, no ports or harbours. Tulum is right in the high seas so there is no protection from the big waves and storms. If you have a boat on the beach in Tulum, you must take it to Puerto Aventuras or get it out of the water if a hurricane is coming otherwise your vessel will end up in a hotel’s swimming pool or worse. So if you have a boat rental in Tulum you may:
- Bring it to Puerto Aventuras. You must have your yacht in any of the 3 marinas of Aventuras and pay around 2500 USD per month. It could be cheaper depending on yacht size but more or less.
- Take it to Cozumel. Cozumel is cheaper marina cost. There are 2 main marinas in Cozumel; Puerto de Abrigo and marina Fonatur. Both marinas are big, but Fonatur being the bigger one. Cost for having your tulum yacht rental in Cozumel would be around $1500 USD per month. Sometimes less than that, depending on exchange rate.

- Puerto Morelos marina EL CID. This marina is also an option if your yacht is electric. If it’s not electric and you want to pick up people in Puerto Aventuras (as it’s the closest port for Tulum yacht rentals) the fuel is going to go higher enough so cost will be higher for clients so your boat must really be a better yacht than the rest of Puerto Aventuras marinas. On the other hand, if you own an electric luxury yacht then you can use this marina and pick up clients in Aventuras, as there won’t be fuel to spend at. Here you can buy an new electric boats custom-made made in Mexico
- Take it out of the water. This will be your best choice if you have all the necesary equipment to take it out of the water everytime you want to use it by using a ramp.
- Tulum Yacht Rentals can help you hire your yacht. You may contact them to help you out. Maybe you want to sell your boat and rent one instead. Sometimes is cheaper and better for you.
What can i do if a hurricane comes to Riviera Maya and i own a tulum yacht rental?
If a hurricane comes to Riviera Maya and you own a tulum yacht you must take it out of the water. That would be the best option. I say the best option because if you take it out of the sea the probabilities of having destructible issues are very low. The other options are:
- Moor the tulum yacht rental in a marina to protect it. The marina must be inside a lagoon, like the many of the Cancun’s Nichupte lagoon. It could also be a place protected by the sea, like a sheltered harbor which you will find in Puerto Morelos and Cancun. Puerto Aventuras is also protected, that is the main reason Aventuras is the leading safe harbor in Tulum’s zone. Tulum yacht rentals use it the most.
- dry dock. In Cancun you will find dry marinas that can help you get your tulum yacht rental out of the water. It will be more costy as Cancun is very far from Tulum, but have it as an option if dry docks are full during a hurricane coming week.
- Get the yacht into the Lagoon. This option is actually very common. The thing is you are far from a lagoon than the one in Cancun’s hotel zone. Many many yacht owners use the Nichupte lagoon to safe their yacht rentals. You must come all the way from Tulum to Cancun from the coast in order to get it. You enter from the bridge that is at the end of the lagoon between Adventure Park and hotel Nizuc. Once inside the lagoon you have to tie very well the boat into the mangroves, and your crew should sleep inside the boat all night in case something unties.
